Description
The apple is a pome fruit from the rose family. Today it is cultivated almost worldwide and is very widespread. However, it is mainly grown in the temperate and subtropical zones. The home of apples is in Central Asia, which is where we source our apples from. There are currently 55 known varieties of apples worldwide. Our apple rings are made from the Fuji and QuinGuan varieties.
When they arrive at the factory, the fresh apples are firstly peeled and washed. Then, depending on the final product, sulphur or citric acid is added. This ensures good flavour preservation as well as a bright, fresh colour. After this step, the apple is gently dried in the oven for over 12 hours, at approximately 90°C. Our unsulfured apple rings are free form additives. 8kg of fresh apples are needed to produce 1kg of ready-dried apple rings. Once the product has reached the desired moisture content, it is put through its paces. During the process, it goes through a sizing process as well as various scans for metal and other foreign objects.
The apple is a versatile fruit. Early on, the fruit was known to be very beneficial to our health and the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is no coincidence. The fruit contains many health-promoting substances such as provitamin A and many other vitamins. In addition, apples can be processed in all kinds of ways. Dried apples can be found in mueslis, muesli bars, but also in baking mixes and as snacks.
For marketing as a regional product, we can also offer you products from Bulgaria or South Tyrol. Our stock items come from the Chinese market and are divided into low moisture and regular moisture. For the low moisture variant, we offer cubes in various cut sizes as well as chips. Our regular products are available for purchase in apple rings or apple cubes.
