Description

The fig belongs to the mulberry family (Moraceae). It is cultivated mainly in the Mediterranean region, with, by far, Turkey being the main supplier in Germany. Other figs come from Greece, Portugal, California and Iran.

The ripe fruits are picked up from the ground and laid out to dry, either on broom straw, tarpaulins or wooden racks.

For further industrial processing, figs are halved and clipped by hand. During the clipping process, the fruit base is removed, which is not edible. Halving or cutting into strips is done for quality control (aflatoxins). We can also offer the figs as strips and you can also purchase or BIO quality figs. We always cut the fig varieties ourselves and can therefore offer pre-cut sizes of 5-7, 8-10 mm as well as 8-15 mm.

Our halved figs are tested for aflatoxins under UV light.
