Description
With ginger, it is not the flower or fruit that is interesting, but the ginger rhizome, i.e. the root under the ground.
The rhizome of the plant, which is about one year old, is harvested. The plant grows in a tropical climate and is therefore also known as a tropical fruit. Common cultivation areas are, for example, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Fiji Islands and Thailand.
The largest producer of ginger root is India producing about 900,000 tons per year, in Thailand about 170,000 tons are harvested per year. As a food, ginger root is said to have some very interesting properties: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and blood pressure-lowering. Ginger is also said to promote blood circulation.
With us you will find the ginger in cube form. It is a 15-22 mm cut and syrup, consisting of cane sugar and citric acid, is added to the product. Sugar crystals are added to the surface before the second drying.
Our ginger cubes can be found at the weekly market as well as in tea, sweets and various pastries. We are also happy to provide you with other cut sizes from the origin.
